The South-West of Western Australia has a diverse range of habitats—forests, woodlands, wetlands, heathlands, and coastal areas provide food and shelter for a wide range of birds.
Our native birds contribute to pollination, seed dispersal, and insect control, maintaining the balance of ecosystems. Many species are indicators of environmental health, and their presence reflects the condition of native habitats. Sadly, many native bird species are threatened by habitat loss, introduced predators, and climate change.
Celebrating the smaller of these birds has been a burst of colour and pattern.
